2013 Summer VBS Gonaives Haiti

The 2013 VBS hosted at Christ Compassion Orphanage was a great success.  300 children, youth, and adults gathered from various churches, most from Pastor Luc's and Pastor Maula's, and some from other churches in Gonaives.  A team of 8 from Indiana and Ohio helped host the VBS, teaching the Bible Stories and Health and Hygiene lessons.  That team included Paul Galbraith, Kelsey Fisk, Nicole Newell, Harrison Bottorff, and Joseph Trimmer from Brandywine Community Church, Katie McKeeman from Park Chapel Christian Church, and Joanna Peders and Rachel Shimrock from Friends Church:  Willoughby Hills, Ohio.

All who attended the VBS were encouraged and challenged to pass on the knowledge gained from scripture and the health and hygiene lessons to their families and communities back home.  Between lesson and worship times, everyone enjoyed playing, eating, and spending time together.

Before leaving, the team passed out some clothes and toys to the children at Christ Compassion Orphanage.

Paul Galbraith and Kelsey Fisk stayed in Haiti to work with Pastor Luc on some projects with the Jezi Dlo water purification systems and the children at Christ Compassion Orphanage.

A team led by Mick & Carla Ireton, Grace Gathering Church, Fort Wayne, IN, will travel to Gonaives August 10th-17th, to host a VBS at Gonaives Church.   This VBS will focus on evangelism to children and families in the downtown area, plugging them into the Gonaives Church.

Orphanage Garden is growing & growing

we have been trying to purchase a plot of ground for growing a variety of produce for the orphanage children to get a more balanced diet. The Land Deal closed, the children helped plant the garden and as you can see it's growing .... they will be able to get 3-4 crops a year from this plot, and they should have excess to even sell some to help with expenses.

Gonaives Church under construction.
The first level of the new church building for the Gonaives Church is underway, it will be a 2 story building so we have a ways to go to get this finished.

Church Planting and Leadership Training

Church Planting and Leadership Training are at the Heart of what World Renewal International is about. Haiti is no exception to that focus, in the last 4 months World Renewal - Haiti partners have planted 3 churches. That's wonderful, but the great news is that in the last 2 weeks 120 people have made Jesus Christ their savior!

New church in Cite Seide

Pastor Benedin and his wife
The fist week in March a national leader team went into the mountain areas of Saint Michel for evangelism. The fruits of that trip are wonderful. The two pictures are from the new church in Cite Seide (pronounced "City Side") in the Saint Michel Area.  The pastor is Pastor Benedin and his wife.  The evangelism in preparation for this church brought 74 people to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

Fond Alzan Church

Pastor Dueukisel and his wife

The following week-end in March the leadership team went out to reach another village for Christ. The two pictures are of the second church plant which is in Fond Alzan, which is close to Manchand.  The pastor is Pastor Dueukisel and his wife.  The evangelism in preparation for this church brought 46 people to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

God is working in the lives of the Haitian people. as you can see the church structures are modest by American standards, but the Love of Jesus is Strong. Pray that these 120 people will be grow into fully devoted followers of Jesus.

March 7 2012 Haiti Update

God is working! Pastor Luc is excited for this month of ministry as he continues evangelizing and will plant two new churches very soon. Also, construction of the Gonaives church is going well. Pastor Luc left today on an evangelism trip in preparation for another church plant, pray that God will prepare hearts for the people they come in contact with them.

God has also provided the resources and land for Christ Compassion Orphanage to begin farming and training the children on agricultural skills. The purchase of the initial land God led us to pursue was not completed, as the wife of the landowner refused to sign the land deed. We believed God was leading us to something better, and God is faithful. Pastor Luc has agreed to a deal for another plot of land, telling us that this land is larger, has better soil, and has access to an existing water source. We praise God for His work!

Finally, Pastor Paul Galbraith (Brandywine Community Church) will be leading a team of six people, Jeff and Aaron Godbey, Beth Hartman, Justine Campbell, and Samantha Frazier, to Gonaives March 20th-29th to host a medical clinic at Christ Compassion Orphanage. They will partner with a local Haitian doctor in Gonaives to administer vaccines and health exams to the children at Christ Compassion Orphanage and people in the community. We are very excited to serve the children and adults in Gonaives, and ask that you consider partnering with this team in prayer and action.

Please Pray For:

1) God’s provision for all the needed medicines and resources for the clinic

2) God to be glorified in every aspect of the medical clinic

3) Those seeking medical care would receive physical and spiritual healing

Also, you can partner with this team by providing any of the following items:

1) Children’s Motrin-Chewable Tablets (50 Count)

2) Children’s Tylenol-Chewable Tablets (50 Count)

3) Tylenol 325mg or 500mg (200 Count)

4) Ibuprofen 200mg (200 Count)

5) Financial Contributions to cover vaccines for children and in-country medical purchases.

*Donations can be dropped off at World Renewal International or Brandywine Community Church by Friday, March 16th. Financial contributions can be sent to World Renewal International by Friday, March 16th with a note attached saying “Haiti Medical Team”.

WRI Haiti update January 2012

In order for the gospel to be taken to the world, we as Christians have to reach out to our neighbors with the love of Christ. God may be calling you to reach your neighbor or for sure your family and friends. Sometimes these are the hardest people to reach, or so it seems, however with the power of the Holy Spirit all things are possible.

I want to encourage you to help take the gospel beyond your daily world.

We had a good year in World Renewal International Haiti, much has been accomplished, but much is head of us. We have seen the need for 13 water systems met since November 2011, with only 5 more needed for our current churches.

Our monthly support for Christ Compassion Orphanage has improved with the addition of some monthly sponsors, we are so thankful for the commitment of those who have helped in that area of need. We are currently in the process of purchasing land for the Orphanage, so they can grow some high quality food to improve their diet.

Our church planting is moving forward, and our goals are lofty (200 Church Plants) but not beyond what God has placed on our hearts, please pray that the people will be receptive to the gospel and the funds to start new churches will be available in the future. Presently we have 18 partner churches in Haiti with the most recent church start taking place in mid December 2011.

We have a great and pressing need that I would like you to pray about participating in … A little less than one year ago, we brought on board Pastor Maula Jean Marie, he currently has 6 partner churches that he is overseeing. His focus is the same as what Luc and I have been doing for the last 15 years. He is a friend of mine and Luc’s and has been helping us informally, for several years. When he came on board his support was not sufficient to accomplish the ministry that he oversees. We have received sad news from a major contributor to Maula’s ministry support. They indicated that they are unable to continue their financial support of $1,000 per month. That amount represents 80% of the funding he was receiving.

The economy has been tough on all of us, and around the world, but for Maula this represents more than a cut back, it will not allow him to feed his family let alone have resource to accomplish ministry.

I believe with all my heart God’s people have the ability to help not only offset the loss of monthly support, but increase support to the levels needed. Pray with me about this situation, if God so indicates to you, please partner with us, so that Maula will be able to continue the work God has called him to.

Praise: We had ask for funds to provide Maula with a car, (he lost 2 vehicles in 2008 flood that killed 3000 in Gonaives Haiti) he found an SUV for, $10,000, at present God has provided or we have commitments for $9,000 of the money for this vehicle, however we still need another $1,000 plus money for license and insurance and plates. Maula’s churches are in a radius of 45 miles, this vehicle is one of the necessity that he has not had for the last 3 years.

Life in Haiti is difficult, that is understood, for someone in ministry, it is extremely difficult, without the right tools and resource, it’s nearly impossible to accomplish what God, has set before us. Having said that God does not call us where he will not keep us, be a partner with Maula.

Please Pray and support this work.

If God is leading you to support Maula, please indicate that in future gifts. If God directs to help with the SUV, indicate your gift is for Maula’s car. Online giving can be accomplished through the World Renewal International web site. http://worldrenewal.org/

God is good, because of him we are a blessed people, help us reach the world, making disciples, until Christ returns.

Thank you for your love and support of the ministry God has set before us.

Prayer Request

Please take time to read and pray over the request from Pastor Maula! It's very time sinsitive

I need very bad a car for the ministry. Because I don’t have one; they are a bunch of things I can accomplish. I felt to pray and look for a good sustainable car by faith. Last week I found a very good used car to buy in Haiti. I really like it because it is a Toyota diesel engine which will be very economic for me. Diesel fuel is a lot cheaper here in Haiti. It will help me to save a lot of money. It will make my life and the ministry going easier. The hard thing, the car cost $ 10,000.00 US. I felt God told me not to give up. I keep praying to know what door to knock on. This morning I received an email from a church who said that they are willing to donate $ 6000.00US. Now I have to raise $4000.00US to get the car. Two good things about this car, I won’t need to deal with all the custom difficulties and the running back and forth for the government license plate. All these things are already done by the original owner. I will put the picture of the care on my blog. If you don’t mind you can take a look at it.

Please, I would appreciate if you could pray for me for another miracle to get the rest of the money. I have a time limit to purchase it. They hold the care for me for 8 days. You are welcome to pass this prayer request to others.

God bless you.
Maula
